Using VPS as a second server for processing

Hello! This is my first post so sorry if I derp up or something! :P
So I am working on a not so simple website! http://lapissea.byethost8.com/ if anyone is interested just for design ideas beucase I doubt that anyone will be interested on what is on there. xD
So I am trying to make some user account suff like data saving email verefication and stuff like that. But the security that I has was really bad. Well not bad but derpy. I was using ssl and symetric encryption and all this fancy stuff to send data to server BUT I WAS RESPONDING (with php as server platform because I dont have a VPS) IN PLAIN TEXT BACK! 
So I remade the whole thing (http://lapissea.byethost8.com/lapis-acco...tion/test/) in a style that imitates bydirectional messaging. And now I want to use websockets becuase using GET requests is beyond cringey + byethost service has a limited ammount of hits.
I didn't want to use some shadey hackish php server reimplementations.
So I made up a simple concept that looks something like this:

Aaaand now I am here looking to get a small VPS server!
I never had a VPS so I am open for any suggestions or tips!
