Google Country Default URL

There are many things I rebel against, mostly Google's controlling ways, but this one is the worst by far.  Forcing me to default to a country and the language, even when I'm an English speaking expat living in that country and prefer to default to Google.com.

So then I get to be in a Google page in Arabic, and try to find in Arabic the exact spot to change languages, and that's a search in futility.  So yes, Aya has it right.  This is another way of Google trying to force people to have a Google Account in order to browse Google.

I can forgive Google for doing it the first time.  But if I provide a specific URL in my browser that asks for a Google address with NCR then that is a loud and clear signal to Google.  Please give me the country in English. So yes, thanks, a couple of years ago while I was searching all over, found this link that worked very well:

https://google.com/ncr

And then Google changed things again on 15 December so the above link won't work.  Something to do with ignoring where you say your browser must fetch the Google page, and insisting it should be in the country where you are.  Intuitively deciding where you are and which language you should be speaking.

Now that is VERY annoying.  "Googled" it again and thankfully someone found another link to bale us out:

http://www.google.com/?gfe_rd=cr&gws_rd=cr

And it works!   Drinks
