Hey guys,
The other day i stumbled upon a scam and thought i would share it with you guys so i can make more people aware of it.
Ok, so recently i was checking my emails through Gmail and i noticed I had a notification, so i checked it and "Free Samsung Galaxy S6 Giveaway" added me to their "circles" which is kind of like a friends list for Google+. As shown here:
So i went to their Google+ page and it looked like this:
and is obviously suspicious.
Since they want users to visit their website, i loaded up Tor and thought i would check out the link they provided, it redirects you to a site called "samsung-giveaway.party" which adds more suspicion since im sure if they had a giveaway, they would host it on samsung.com
i checked it out and what it wants you to do is access the site on a smart phone/tablet and then download a "free" app, then once it is installed you can enter your details on the site. This is a weird verification method since there’s many easier ways, I’m guessing it will download a virus of some sort instead on an actual app but i don’t intend to find out. Also I’m pretty sure (not 100%) that the button to go enter your details will never be enabled, no mater what you do.
Anyway, i just thought i would get the word out and let you all know about this just in case anyone else gets added to their circles. (Even though I’m sure most people at Gigarank wouldn't fall for this)
