I just ordered a Raspberry Pi 3 B from Amazon on friday. It arrived on monday (the free option uses our national postal service expedited parcel service which is quite fast, sometimes as fast as 2 day shipping).
In total, with a small wireless keyboard I paid ~87 dollars + taxes. I didn't buy the keyboard specifically for the Pi, but I needed it as I don't have a USB keyboard laying around, and the one I was using with my Android box was starting to get funky.
The case came with some cheap little heatsinks, so I installed them, made a NOOBS microSD and "installed that", seated the Pi board into the case ($9.99 black ABS plastic with ventilation cutouts, from a generic Chinese seller on Amazon, but it was fufilled by Amazon so I thought it musn't be too bad).
All in all "building" the Pi took ~10 minutes. I was doing a bunch of other stuff in between, cooking dinner etc. So actually this all occurred over the course of 8 or 9 hours.
I chose to install the Raspbian lite with no gui, because I will use this particular Pi as a php/mysql dev environment.
I did notice that the unit became quite warm just from running your basic update/dist-upgrade.
In the future I would like to build a Pi 2 with a small touch screen and lithium-ion battery for Kali linux, just cuz. Not for nefarious purposes unless there is some kind of technocratic overthrow of current governments. lol!
Also I would like to replace my Android box with a Pi or one of the competitors.
However, I'm concerned regarding the heat generated by the Pi 3. I think the Pi 2 is supposed to run a bit cooler.
Well anyway enjoy the pictures. Please post if you have any Rasberry Pi or similar projects at home.![Smile Smile]()
