I would like to develop a free open-source framework similar to bootstrap, but with IE8 support and with the main feature being WCAG 2.0 AA (or even AAA) and United States federal government section 508 compliance. Basically it would be a very accessible version of a few bootstrap components written in pure JavaScript. Currently I am working on an adobe style mega menu, accordions, tabs and modals. If you don't know what I mean by accessible, I mean the components must be fully functional for users with disabilities.
Basically, I would consider myself a fairly new JavaScripter. So I would be looking for help from a few people on GigaRank who have an interest in this sort of thing. My plan is to host the project on github, but I am still just learning about github and svn.
So what do you think? Would you like to help out? I think this is maybe a most appropriate project for people who are skilled and experienced in web design, specifically HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Also you must be aware of WCAG guidelines (they are available on the W3C site), or/and hopefully you will be self-motivated to research and learn when you don't understand a problem.
Thank you in advance, you could respond here or via PM as there is no github repo yet.
Cheers.
