Management of affiliate and tracking of thier work

So today I was investigating the options of affiliate tracking and was wondering what are the preferred or best methods of tracking and paying your affiliate

The options I came up with are listed below, If anyone has any better ideas or better service option please share

2.) Purchase the add on
